Chicago Portfolio Plus Workshop

Hi All!  Once again, I joined in on the recent Portfolio Plus Workshop V put on by Kenny Kim and Ray Santana…this time right here in the Windy City!!  The weather was nice, the models gorgeous, and the city backdrop made for some awesome shots!!

While I did not get to participate in the entire workshop this time, I am glad I was still able to come out and join Kenny, Ray and the other workshop participants for a great shoot.  Later after the shoot was done, I was even reunited with long time associate Kenny Nakai, who I hadn’t seen in nearly 10 years from when were both a part of the UIC Servants campus ministry way back when.  And to top the evening off, I even got the chance to meet Bob Davis, and am looking forward to doing one of his workshops here in Chicago sometime in the future!

While I don’t want to go on too much here, there are a couple of people that deserve credit for their part in making it a successful workshop:

Many thanks to Starlight Makeup Chicago for the wonderful job they did getting the models prepped for the shoot, and also to Vale of Enna Flowers for the beautiful floral designs they did for both the table top settings and bridal bouquet!  Although I did not attend the part of the workshop to take photos of the event place settings, I also am giving a shout out to Sweet Chic Events, Inc. for the great job they did arranging beautiful place settings for my peers to photograph, and to Pure Kitchen Catering for providing lunches and snacks so my workshop cohorts had plenty of energy to power them though the workshop.

Now…on to the photos!!!  Enjoy!

A Beautiful “Birth Story”

I was so privileged to have another birth story client recently who is allowing me to feature some of their photos in my portfolio!… Introducing Baby Natalie!  (I will post a version of her birth story slide show on the Bumps to Babies Photography website shortly–so stay tuned!)

Fair Warning!… There are a lot of photos in this post.  But how could you tell a birth story without a lot of photos?

Another note: There are labor and delivery photos in this post.  No…there are no overly graphic or personal photos included.  Since this was one of my best labor and delivery sessions so far (thanks to upgrading equipment), I wanted to share with you all just how beautiful this type of photography is, and that it is nothing to be nervous about.  Having a professional photographer to shoot your labor and delivery allows your spouse to focus exclusively on you in the moment.  It also enables you to capture those small, yet significant moments going on around you after the delivery that you might otherwise miss that tells your baby’s birth story.

I hope, whether you are a parent-to-be, or just an observer of this post, that you understand that joy you can experience knowing these significant moments were documented for you so that you can cherish them for years to come.

Enjoy this beautiful baby’s story!…

Brio Media’s “Best of Bellies”

Before they were here, they were beautiful bumps!  Here are some of my best maternity photos….

(A side Note: The first six photos in this post were from my very first photo shoot EVER with a Nikon D90… Not sure why I had such luck with that body and the kit lens it came with, but I think some of the photos from this shoot were some of the best I’ve done.  So given the fact that I was  “newbie” with non-pro lenses, I am still proud of this session…because I was trying with all my heart (even though I had no clue about my equipment at the time, and probably shot these photos in Auto Mode!)).  :-)

Enjoy!
